Rotterdam-based outfit Amy Root is a fast-burgeoning powerhouse, becoming the latest of a growing cast of Dutch acts pushing the possibilities of electronic music to spectacular pinnacles. The group's inaugural EP Lynn gives the listener an enticing tip of the proverbial iceberg: its title track draws from the spiritual power of Afro-jazz mantras to unfurl its spiraling, mesmeric drifts. Amy Root hatch their ideas in similar individualist fashion as Jon Hopkins, Moderat, Radiohead, and James Holden. Which is another way of saying that nothing is out of this duo's purview, be it Bulgarian choral music or Japanese minimalism.
